Marine Fisheries Act 2020 of Bangladesh: A Missed Opportunity for Sustainability and Collaborative Governance

Abstract This article critically examines the Marine Fisheries Act 2020 of Bangladesh. The replaced Ordinance 1983 with a view to upgrading regulation fisheries resources in Bangladesh’s marine waters. However, substantial portion replicates Ordinance. Critically, does not incorporate internationally recognised principles and measures management, despite international obligations. Moreover, new law is silent about capacity development relevant government agencies community engagement. Overall, it was missed opportunity for Bangladesh include sustainability collaborative governance its sector.
